A strength on performing arts
The performing arts culture at HIBS is strong. As a boys’ school, we are proud of this point of difference.
In the same way as academic endeavours and sports are encouraged, involvement in the Performing Arts is esteemed and seen as a positive part of growing well-rounded young men.
The Junior Performing Arts programme is dynamic and engaging and provides a good grounding in all disciplines. Well-developed courses of study in the subjects of music and drama are offered right up to Level 3 NCEA.
A wide range of opportunity
We have an extensive itinerant music programme and a wide range of co-curricular groups in the areas of music, drama and dance.
In alternate years, we produce high quality Productions and Variety Shows.
We have worked hard to develop a department that is organised and professional. In all areas we strive for excellence and offer opportunities that are worthwhile. The Performing Arts at this school continues to thrive on an overall culture of positive creativity, encouragement and fun.
